Hey there, you!

This is me, hiding behind a bouquet of shiso.

This is me, hiding behind a bouquet of shiso.

I’m Annika. I write professionally about the intersection of community, environment, and food. Personally? I just write a lot of weird poetry and love letters to the flowers growing in my backyard.

I grew up on an island in Maine, went to college in the Twin Cities (where I spent just as many nights out dancing as I did cuddled up under 20+ layers of blankets), and finally found my home in the PNW. I spent a year teaching in India as a Fulbright Scholar. I also taught food and gardening to public school students, creative writing classes to adults with developmental disabilities, and was the lead teacher at an innovative forest school program. I love curriculum design as a tool for sharing transformative books, art, films, and stories.

I’m a yoga teacher, too. Cinephile. Gardener. Home cook. Spice and herb aficionado. Haiku hawker. Doodler and collagist and appreciator of much better art than mine. Hiker, for sure. I believe that attention is one of our most undervalued and accessible resources, and every day I try to harness and direct it towards meaningful, compassionate, and beautiful work.

Okay, that’s enough for now. If you want me to write something for you - article, marketing copy, any content whatsoever, grant proposals, letters of inquiry, personalized poem, letter - send me an email! I’d love to hear from you.
